Humanitarian Work

Along with his sister, Dr. Sister Monique Bourget, Dr. Louis Bourget co-founded the Bourget Foundation. The foundation aims to uplift entire communities through medical aid, education, and infrastructure development. Each year, it organizes missions of mercy to remote areas in the Global South where it sets up medical/Dental camps in order to provide essential healthcare services to those who need them most. These missions are undertaken by a diverse team of surgeons and medical/Dental professionals from a wide variety of disciplines. The Bourget Foundation spends time educating local healthcare providers to carry on the work after the initial missions have ended. It also leaves behind important medical supplies and equipment in the communities it serves, including everything from anesthesia machines to essential pharmaceuticals, thus providing them with lasting material and technical support.

At home, Dr. Bourget volunteers his time teaching first aid to the Canadian Ski Patrol. He also cooks meals for shelters across Halifax, Nova Scotia. Additionally, he organizes and sends emergency medical supplies to countries in crisis, using his network to secure much-needed resources.
